Beijing set to enjoy some McLaren love

MADAM Wheels is pretty jealous about people in the Chinese car market because they’re about to get access to something exclusive only to them. In this case, it will be Madam Wheels’ dream car - the McLaren 570GT - but in this case, it will be dressed in Chinese style.

‘Also set to make its global debut at McLaren’s split-level stand in Beijing will be the new McLaren Senna.’

In collaboration with an as-yet unnamed Chinese designer, the British sports car maker has announced that a limited run of its 570GT Sports Series cars will undergo a Chinese transformation to be retailed solely in China. Blending traditional Chinese craftsmanship with a modern twist, hand-crafted panels from a traditional embroidery master will inspire the design work on these cars. Further details will be unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show (April 25 to May 4).

Also set to make its global debut at McLaren’s split-level stand in Beijing will be the new McLaren Senna, one of five examples from its sports- and super-car line-ups to be on display. The Senna is being marketed as the ultimate road-legal McLaren track car with its 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine the most powerful internal combustion engine to sit in a McLaren road car. It can rip through 0–100km/h in 2.8 seconds.

China is an important market for every automotive brand and McLaren Automotive says it is enjoying a growing presence there. With imports of the new 570S Spider and 720S set to begin shortly, the company expects to double sales there this year.
