Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp will headline an impressive line-up of inspiring women in the return of an Australian Grand Prix event opener at this year’s Formula 1 spectacular in Melbourne.

Hosted by Madam Wheels Founder and Director Jacquie Hayes and presented by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC), the 2022 Women Driving Leadership annual breakfast will bring guests trackside to a Premium Suite in the Paddock Club on the opening day of the AusGP, Thursday 7 April.

“The Grand Prix is a major, global event that brings local, interstate and international visitors to Melbourne,” Capp says. “This year’s incredible ticket sales highlight just how much sporting fans value this iconic event.”

The much-anticipated networking event will feature an all-star panel of women paving the path in their respective fields across sport, STEM and strategy.

Joining Capp on the podium will be AGPC board member, Y Australia CEO and former Olympian Tal Karp, Alfa Romeo Racing development engineer Krystina Emmanouilides and professional rally driver and Extreme E champion Molly Taylor.

Promoted in partnership with Onside Law, Motorsport Australia and FIA Girls On Track, the Women Driving Leadership breakfast is expected to sell out quickly as it did when its inaugural event ran at the last Melbourne Grand Prix in 2019.

Hayes says Women Driving Leadership celebrates the contributions women globally have made to Formula 1 and the motorsport industry.

“I’m excited to be back moderating this high-anticipated AGPC event which promotes women in their efforts to make an impact in whatever field they’re working,” Hayes says.

It also seeks to attract more women to the breadth of entertainment that the Grand Prix offers.

“Women can have strong misconceptions around Formula 1, and therefore miss out on experiencing how enjoyable it can be,” she says. “There’s so much more to this sport than loud cars and big egos, and we want as many women as possible to get involved with it.”

Tickets to Women Driving Leadership grants access to the circuit, admission to the Premium Suite, breakfast catered by Atlantic Group with non-alcoholic refreshments, networking opportunities as well as a carefully curated panel program. Participants also gain a complimentary AusGP Park Pass to stay on circuit and enjoy the remainder of Thursday’s exhilarating track schedule.
